YF Life Insurance International Limited (referred to hereinafter as the “YF”) respects the right to personal data privacy and is committed to complying with requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (applicable to personal data collected in Hong Kong) and the Personal Data Protection Act (applicable to personal data collected in Macau). This statement provides you with notice as to the purpose of collection and intended usage of your personal data, transfer of personal data and how to access, review and correct your personal data. 

For different purposes and at different times you may be invited to provide personal data to YF on a voluntary basis. Personal information may include name, identity card number, telephone number, mailing address, email address, credit information, employment details, claims history, health information, and biometric data (including your face, iris recognition,  fingerprint or such other biometric images and/or features as may be prescribed by us from time to time) (“Biometric Data”). Please note that if you do not provide YF with the required personal data, YF may not be able to provide you with the information, products or services. 

YF will only retain personal information for so long as it is necessary for the fulfilment of the purpose (including any directly related purpose) for which the data is collected. When the personal information that we collect is no longer required, we will destroy or delete it in a secure manner. Unless permitted or required by law, or for the purpose for which you provide us the information, YF will not disclose your personal data to any third parties without your prior consent. 

Purpose: The purposes for which your personal data may be used will vary depending on the nature of your relationship with YF. Such purposes may include the following: 

1. processing, evaluation, approving, administering, maintaining, managing and operating of insurance products/ provident fund schemes and related services, and additions, alterations, variations, cancellations, renewals, and reinstatements of such products and services or transaction contemplated; 
2. designing new or enhancing existing products and services of YF and its subsidiaries; 
3. performing any functions and activities related to products and/or services including but not limited to marketing, audit, reporting, research, analysis, reinsurance, processing payment instructions and general servicing and maintenance of online and other services; 
4. processing, assessing, determining, responding, defending or analyzing for any purposes in connection with any claims made by or against or otherwise involving you or other claimants in respect of any products/services including investigation of claims, settle claims, detect and prevent fraud (whether or not relating to the policy issued in respect of this application); 
5. offering, providing and marketing to you the products / services of YF and its subsidiaries, or YF’s business partners, and administering, maintaining, managing and operating such products / services; 
6. for data matching, internal business and administrative purposes; 
7. conducting market or actuarial research for statistical or similar purposes undertaken by YF and its subsidiaries, the financial services industry or our respective regulators; 
8. matching any data held which relate to you from time to time for any of the purposes listed herein; 
9. meeting requirements imposed by any applicable law, rules, regulations, codes of practice or guidelines or assisting with law enforcement purposes, investigations by police or other government or regulatory authorities in Hong Kong and Macau or elsewhere; 
10. conducting identity and/or credit checks and/or debt collection; 
11. sending out administrative communications about any account you may have with YF or about future changes to this Personal Information Collection Statement; 
12. enabling an actual or proposed assignee, transferee, participant or sub-participant of the rights or business of YF or its affiliated company to evaluate the transaction intended to be the subject of the assignment, transfer, participation or sub-participation; and 
13. other purposes directly relating to any of the above. 

Transfer of personal data: Personal data will be kept confidential but, subject to the provisions of any applicable law, may be transferred to: 

1. any agent, contractor or third party who provide services in connection with the product / services provided by YF and / or its subsidiaries in the following classes of business: reinsurance, insurance intermediary, fund management or finance;  
2. any agent, contractor or third party who provides administrative, technology, data processing, telecommunications, computer, payment, debt collection, call center services, direct marketing services, verification, security or other services to YF and / or its subsidiaries in connection with the operation of its business within or outside Hong Kong and Macau; 
3. any of the subsidiaries of YF in Hong Kong and Macau or elsewhere; 
4. employers of the customers; 
5. any person (including private investigators and claims investigation companies) in connection with any claims made by or against or otherwise involving you in respect of any products/services provided by YF and / or its subsidiaries; 
6. other companies who help gather your information or communicate with you, such as research companies and credit reference agencies or, in the event of default, debt collection agencies; 
7. any actual or proposed assignee, transferee, participant or sub-participant of our rights or business; 
8. any government department or other appropriate governmental or regulatory authority, whether within or outside Hong Kong and Macau, to whom YF and / or its subsidiaries are requested or required by any applicable law, rules, regulations, codes of practice or guidelines to make disclosures; and 
9. transfer personal information to the following persons who may collect and use this information only as reasonably necessary to carry out the purposes described above: insurance adjusters, licensed insurance or MPF intermediaries; employers; health care professionals; hospitals; accountants; tax advisors; financial advisors; trusts and estate planning services advisors; solicitors; organizations that consolidate claims and underwriting information for the insurance industry; fraud prevention organizations; other insurance companies (whether directly or through fraud prevention organization or other persons named in this paragraph), the police and databases or registers (and their operators) used by the insurance industry to analyze and check information provided against existing information. 

Your personal data may be provided to any of the above parties who may be located within or outside Hong Kong and Macau, and in this regard you consent to the transfer of your data outside of Hong Kong. 

Transfer of your personal data will only be made for one or more of the purposes specified above.  

Use of Biometric Data for verification 

You may register to use your Biometric Data as a means to verify your identity relating to your access to any services/products. By registering or using any such verifications, you understand that we may use your Biometric Data and that you are deemed to accept and agree to this section. 

Your Biometric Data may also be used by us and/or our service provider in the following circumstances: 

1. for identification purposes during our electronic customer due diligence (“eKYC”) processes, which involve the use of technologies of facial recognition (capturing facial images) and optical character recognition (for capturing and transforming identification document images into text); 
2. for identification and verification purposes when you access any of our services/products; 
3. for the prevention of fraud and suspicious transactions during your use of our services/products; 
4. for the purposes of our eKYC system performance enhancements and upgrades from time to time. 

If you do not accept the terms herein or consent for biometric verification, you should not register or use any such verification. Please note that you may not be able to access any services/products, or authorize any transaction instructions. 

You acknowledge the inherent risks of using biometric data to verify your identity and you will act in good faith and exercise reasonable care and diligence in keeping the security of your biometric data. Risks arising from the use of biometric data including another individual with a similar appearance to you is able to access any services/products by impersonating you; and the risk that your biometric information may be stolen. 

As such, you are advised not to use such means of verification if you have a twin or similar-looking sibling or when your facial features may be undergoing a rapid stage of development or change, and you are advised not to disable any function provided by, and/or agreeing to any setting of your electronic device(s) that would compromise the security of the use of your biometric credentials. 

We do not represent or warrant that your biometric data could be used at all times or with the Services/Products for verification purposes. The scope of the use of your biometric credentials is subject to our sole and entire discretion. 

You may cancel the use of your biometric data as a means to verify your identity at any time, but in doing so, we may not be able to provide you with any services/products. 

We reserve the right to modify, suspend or terminate the use of your biometric data as a means to verify your identity at any time without giving prior notice or reason if we reasonably consider it necessary or advisable to do so, including where there is an actual or suspected breach of security. 

You can (subject to applicable laws and regulations) by contacting our Data Protection Officer using the information : 

a.   request the provision of further information on the types of data used by algorithms and biometric recognition technology, and what factors and models affect the decisions driven by the use of algorithms and biometric recognition technology; 

b.   enquire and request reviews of the decisions made by the algorithms and biometric recognition technology; and 

c.  receive information about our complaint-handling and redress mechanisms applicable in respect of any services/products powered by algorithms and biometric recognition technology. 

Amendment to the PICS 

YF reserves the right at anytime, with and without notice, to add to, change, update or amend this PICS which will be found in our website or in writing to notify you how YF will collect, use and transfer your personal data. Should there be any amendment to this PICS in the future, such amendment will become effective with immediate effect upon posting. 

Access and correction of personal data: Under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance and the Personal Data Protection Act, you have the right to ascertain whether YF holds your personal data, to obtain a copy of the data, to correct any data that is inaccurate, and to ascertain YF’s policies and practices in relation to personal data. You may also request YF to inform you of the type of personal data held by it. A reasonable fee may be charged to offset YF’s administrative and actual costs incurred in complying with your access requests.

​​Use of Personal Data for Direct Marketing Purposes: YF intends to: 

1. YF intend to use your name and contact details for promotional and marketing purpose including sending marketing communications and conducting direct marketing to you by electronic and non-electronic means including by post; 

2. marketing communications and direct marketing include the following classes of products and services (including providing reward, loyalty or privileges programmes) : 

a. insurance, annuities, banking, wealth management, retirement plans, investment, financial services, credit cards, securities, personal tax, legal consultation, will drafting, trusts and estate planning services and related products and services;  

b. health, wellness and medical, food and beverage, sporting activities, memberships and related products and services; 

c. media, entertainment and telecommunications services; 

d. reward, loyalty or privileges programmes and related products and/or services;  

e. elderly care, travel, shopping and purchase, entertainment, household assistance, concierge services and related products and services; and 

f. products and/or services offered by entities of the YF or co-branding partners may be marketed where permitted by law. 

3. YF intend to transfer your name and contact details to YF and its subsidiaries’ business partners, and YF’s marketing partners to enable them to market any of the above products and services to you. We may provide your personal data to such transferees for gain. 

4. YF requires your written consent (which includes an indication of no objection) for YF to use and to provide the data to the third parties as set out above for any promotional or marketing purpose. 

You may withdraw your consent for YF to use and to provide to a third party of your personal data for direct marketing purposes at any time, and thereafter YF shall, without charge to you, cease to use such data for direct marketing purposes.
